As a former engineer, backing technical founders is my passion, and seeing their businesses come to life and thrive in the world is my greatest privilege.
Kevin Dunlap has been partnering with exceptional founders for over 15 years to help them grow their businesses from the earliest seeds of ideas through to successful billion-dollar exits. As co-founder and managing partner of Calibrate Ventures, Kevin works hand-in-hand with entrepreneurs to offer day-to-day operational guidance, support, and access to his vast network of operators, investors, and strategic partners.
With a degree in mechanical engineering and a stint as an engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory early in his career, Kevin loves figuring out how automation and AI technologies work. But as a hands-on investor who delves into the nitty-gritty of company creation and growth, Kevin is also passionate about helping founders turn their innovations into profitable companies that transform industries and change lives.
Prior to co-founding Calibrate Ventures, Kevin was a managing director at Shea Ventures, where he backed companies such as Ring, Solar City, and Chegg. Kevin currently sits on the boards of Broadly, Soft Robotics, and Realized. When he’s not scouting out the latest tech innovations, Kevin can be found enjoying the beach with his wife and two young children. He holds a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Buffalo and a MS in financial engineering from the Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University.
